A paradise

The concept of paradise has been a crucial one throughout time. Its significance lies in its ability to make the human experience meaningful and enjoyable regardless of the fact that it is inevitably fleeting. Paradise is a sanctuary of peace and abundance. It is a location that is outside of normal historical times and is therefore invulnerable to crime, sickness or death. It is also a place filled with people who are perpetually healthy and young.

Paradise is described in a variety of ways from the Garden of Eden of the Bible to the lush Pacific Ocean islands of novels and Gauguin's paintings. It can even be seen in the contemporary world, with the popularity of communes and the increasing interest in gardening and outdoor living. In fact, the word utopia conjures up images of a paradise. While not all utopias are infused with religious connotations, they typically include paradisial motifs. They are also designed to attain some of the qualities and characteristics of paradise in reality.

There are a variety of meanings for the word paradise, but most of them refer to a state of extreme beauty or pleasure. It can also be a place that is ideal for a particular activity or a particular hobby. For example golfers' paradise or an hummingbird’s paradise. In the context of religion, it may refer to heaven, the home of the righteous after death.

Many languages have utilized the word paradise, however it was originally derived from the ancient Iranian language of Avestan. The word pairidaeza is derived from the roots pairi "around" and daeza "wall". It was later adapted to Greek as paradise and then used in Hebrew and other Aramaic Scriptures.

In the Bible, the Garden of Eden is paradise. It was a beautiful location where the first couple lived, unaffected of disease and death. The paradise was lost however, when they refused to obey God. In later Bible prophecies, heaven is an area where the happy human race will live for eternity. The term "paradise" can also be a reference to a state of spiritual or psychological happiness and happiness.
